Il B-1B Lancer è un bombardiere strategico americano a lungo raggio con struttura a semiguscio e geometria alare variabile, sviluppato da Rockwell International (ora Boeing). Insieme agli aerei B-52 e B-2, costituisce la base dell’aviazione americana dei bombardieri strategici. L’idea di un bombardiere a lungo raggio superiore a 2M nacque nell’USAF intorno al 1965. In risposta a questa richiesta, Rockwell creò l’antenato del B-1B, il B-1A, che volò nel dicembre 1974. Tuttavia, quando Carter assunse la presidenza degli Stati Uniti, il programma fu cancellato. Il programma fu rilanciato nel 1981, con i primi B-1B di serie che raggiunsero le unità lineari nel 1984, mentre le ultime versioni di serie arrivarono nel 1988. In totale sono stati prodotti 100 B-1B Lancer. Nel 2003, 67 velivoli sono rimasti in servizio almeno fino al 2020. Il B-1B Lancer subisce continue modifiche, che consistono principalmente nella sostituzione dei sistemi di guerra elettronica e nella possibilità di trasportare armi guidate. Gli aerei sono stati utilizzati in combattimento in Jugoslavia (1999), Iraq (2003) e Afghanistan (2001-2002).
