Il McDonnell-Douglas A-4 Skyhawk è un aereo da attacco al suolo americano, il cui prototipo volò per la prima volta nel 1954. Durante le prove del prototipo nel 1954, ha battuto il record di velocità di volo orizzontale nella sua classe di aerei. L’A-4 è un monomotore con una struttura ad ala bassa con ala a delta, che durante l’uso si è caratterizzato per l’elevata durata e resistenza ai danni, che ha ottenuto il riconoscimento dei piloti. Varie versioni dell’A-4 Skyhawk hanno partecipato alla guerra del Vietnam, ai conflitti in Medio Oriente (1967 e 1973) e alla guerra delle Falkland (1982). Hanno avuto un ruolo decisivo nella guerra del 1967, servendo l’aviazione israeliana. La produzione è terminata nel 1979 e finora sono state prodotte circa 2.900 versioni da combattimento e circa 600 versioni da addestramento. Durante il servizio sono state create numerose versioni, di cui vanno sostituite l’A-4A (la prima versione prodotta in serie), l’A-4F (elettronica potenziata) e l’A-4G (versione da addestramento). Armamento fisso: 2 cannoni Browning Mk 12 (calibro 20 mm); armamento sospeso (a seconda della versione) con peso da 3720 kg a 4155 kg. L’aereo è stato esportato, minimo, in Argentina, Australia, Nuova Zelanda e Singapore. Dati tecnici: Velocità massima: 1075 km/h; velocità di salita 28-43 m/s, tetto pratico 14900 m, autonomia massima: 3305 km.
