Il Cessna A-37 Dragonfly è stato un bimotore leggero d’attacco dell’esercito degli Stati Uniti in servizio dal 1963 al 1992. Ne furono prodotti 577 esemplari. Fu utilizzato in combattimento, soprattutto durante la guerra del Vietnam. Fu creato come risposta alla richiesta delle forze armate statunitensi di un aereo COIN – un aereo che combattesse le unità partigiane nemiche. L’A-37 era dotato di due motori General Eletric J85-GE-17A. Una caratteristica dell’aereo era la disposizione dei sedili dell’equipaggio uno accanto all’altro, insolita per questa classe di macchine. Uno dei maggiori vantaggi dell’A-37 in relazione al tipo di missioni svolte era senza dubbio la capacità di operare da piste molto corte, preparate provvisoriamente. Dal dicembre 1994, l’A-37 è anche al servizio dell’unità acrobatica aerea sudcoreana – Black Eagles. Dati tecnici: Velocità massima: 816 km/h; velocità di salita 35,5 m/s, tetto pratico 12.730 m, raggio d’azione massimo: 1.480 km, armamento: fisso – 1 km GAU2B/A, calibro 7,62 mm, sospeso – fino a 1230 kg.
